Agri-food premises must contend with various challenges which put the hygiene of their walls and ceilings at risk

In dairies

The cleaning protocol for tanks produces steam which contains caustic soda; this corrodes metals and causes paint to flake. Milk contains enzymes and acids which can also corrode surfaces. All this causes considerable damage to walls and ceilings;

In dairies which produce cheese and butter

The brine which seeps out behind silicone sealing and poorly sealed joints, the grease which sticks to walls and ceilings in areas in which foodstuffs are left to mature and dairy waste cause bacterial biofilms to build up, making cleaning more difficult and compromising hygiene;

In abattoirs

High levels of enzymes and biological compounds in blood make it particularly corrosive to wall surfaces (sandwich panels); in addition, blood can also build up in joints when they are not waterproof. Bacteria can be found in the grooves between joints and on ceilings. This requires additional work to repair these defective joints.

To prevent this wide-ranging damage, it is vital to use materials which have been specially designed for this type of environment, such as Hygi Panel®’s waterproof joints and antibacterial panels. In addition, their smooth, non-porous surface prevents the build-up of residue and makes cleaning easier.

Our VOC-free wall panels and ceiling tiles are fully compliant with HACCP food standards.
